Around Hopkins - Water Based Activities
Hopkins lies on the mainland shore of Central America along the tropical Caribbean Sea. Not far off shore we are protected by the second longest barrier reef on the planet.
The beach in front of Sandpiper is perfect for lounging and swimming. The sea is very shallow and delightfully warm out front.... We have hammocks, tables and chairs on the beach for our guest's use. Kayaks rentals are available.
We often see dolphin and manatee swim close to shore, and even the occasional Orca (Killer Whale).
There are endless opportunities for snorkel and diving, fishing and sightseeing around the Cayes. Just off of Hopkins is the Southwater Caye Marine Reserve, which is home to Carrie Bow Island, a research facility run by the Smithsonian Institute.
All guides in Belize require training and licensing. You can be assured when you go out with any of the local guides, that you will be in safe and knowledgeable hands.
